Local Missions Supported by Volunteers
Bureau County Food Pantry provides food for those in need in Bureau County. The congregation collects food and non-food items for the Pantry each Sunday as part of our weekly offering. Individuals are encouraged to provide additional monetary support.
River Bend Mobile Food Bank distributes food to needy families in the region. Various groups within the church have, through monetary gifts and volunteer hours, helped to bring this service to Bureau County.
The Closet is a local resale shop located at 2026 North Main in Princeton. Many members of our congregation volunteer doing various tasks at the store. The proceeds from the items sold benefit over 20 local charities.
Illinois Valley PADS Homeless Shelter provides counseling and social services as well as food and housing for the homeless of Bureau and La Salle counties. Individuals support PADS with monetary support and/or donations to Lily Pads thrift shop.
Freedom House provides services to victims of domestic abuse. We periodically collect needed items for the shelter.
Buddy Bags is a cooperative effort to provide food for kids of Bureau County in need. Bags are packed weekly during the school year and distributed prior to the weekend or vacation dismissal. We provide needed volunteer labor and individuals are encouraged to support Buddy Bags with monetary support.
Our Table provides a free Monday evening meal for all who care to come. The United Methodist Church provides the site and area churches cooperate to provide the food and volunteer servers each week. We regularly participate in this service to the community.
Lutheran World Relief is supported by the efforts of our Lutheran Church Women. Quilters meet twice a month to create blankets for emergency use around the world. LCW also packs and ships soap, School Kits and Health Kits.
